Adrenal Fatigue"Adrenal exhaustion" aka "Adrenal fatigue" is usually associated with fatigue that comes from being under chronic stress. When natural progesterone production drops in the body, the normal conversion by the adrenal glands cannot happen. This causes salt buildup, fluid retention and hypoglycemia. Adrenal dysfunction may be a factor in many related conditions, including fibromyalgia, hypothyroidism, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, premature menopause and others.


Holistic Treatment:

  • Lifestyle Changes:
    • Reduce the workload; eliminate / reduce stress factors as much as possible
    • Increasing relaxation to help the body re-discover its natural rhythms
    • Consider stress-reducing exercises such as Yoga as well as meditation to help increase stress tolerance


  • Herbal Remedy:
    • Sage: Sage helps control hot flushes, night sweats and balances the nerves and massage on tummy to help relieve painful menstruation. Sage essential oil (Salvia officinalis) is a stimulating oil which helps to stimulate and balance the nerves and dispels tiredness and depression. Sage is excellent in improving memory. Raises blood pressure. Helpful during menopause,
      • Sage Tea: Sage tea alleviates those flushes and sweats associated with adrenal exhaustion. Soak 2 tablespoons of sage for about half an hour in a cup or two of boiled water. One patient reported that the hot flushes stopped within 2 hours and the effects last for about two days.
      • Add chopped sage leaves on toast or in a salad.
      • Steam sage to alleviate the symptoms of bronchitis, coughs, colds and other infections.
      • Taken as a mouthwash, helps with throat infections, dental abscesses, infected gums and mouth ulcers
      • Use in massage oils for aches, pains, rheumatism and over exercised muscles.
