Petite Aviator Harness
Will also work on smaller birds, such as parakeets, parrotlets and love birds. However, the belt does not rotate well because the smaller birds are not heavy enough to pull it around, but nonetheless it keeps your small bird from escaping outdoors.

My Bird Gets Enough Exercise, Doesn’t He?
The Aviator Bird Flight Line for parrots and pet birds will allow your bird to fly and explore like never before. Imagine the thrill your bird will have when exploring flight at speeds not attainable inside the house, with the complete safety of The Aviator Bird Flight Line. Your bird will learn to fly, bank and explore like a crime fighting superhero that just got a new energizer.
All his life his brain has been saying ‘I think I can, I think I can’ but has never had the thrill. Now your bird can leap tall buildings with a single bound and safely return to earth.
The positive behavior benefits we get when we send our children out to play and expend some energy can now be had by all pet birds and their owners. There are many more advantages to flight than can be listed here, but our sample list will give you something to dream about.
Other ways to exercise your bird: Boings, climbing toys like ladders, knotted ropes, swings, claw toys (hand held), and encouraging flying between perches if a flighted bird.
Locate an open grassy area with no trees, shrubs, lawn furniture, etcetera. Thereshould not be anything for your bird to perch on or become tangled in.
For beginning flight training the grass must be mowed short. Most pet birds learningto fly do not have much strength or endurance. They will be carrying the weight of theharness and leash when flying. The leash dragging on grass will add additional weight.Soon your pet will gain the strength and endurance to easily carry the leash, and learnto fly a little higher so less of the leash will drag on the grass.
Measure in from the outside edge of your open area approximately 25', all the wayaround the perimeter of your flight area (refer to the photo to the right). The flight line has a maximum length of 30' andmay not fill your entire area. If your center area is wider than 30' the Flight Line can beplanted anywhere inside the area.
If your measured area is less then 30' across at the widest point, Install one end-postsomewhere on the line determined in step 3. For the greatest amount of flight area youwill want to choose the two points furthest away from each other With some of the flightline unwound from the post, push the empty and-post into the ground.
On the far side of theline plotted in step 3,install the other end-post. Unwind enough line toreach the other side ofyour flight area. If yourarea is less than 30' longleave the extra linewound on the end post.Wind extra line onto thepost by pulling the excessline through the hole it isattached to. Once all ofthe extra line is pulledthrough, wind it onto thehooks on the post. If theline is not wound tight itmay loosen as the Flight Line is used. If slack develops in the line, move the postback. There must be at least two inches between the flight line and the grass all the way along the line, If the line is not taunt it may sag and touch the grass. Proper line tension will cause the post to bend about one inch before you push it into the ground. Most lawns are not perfectly flat; distance from the grass to the line will vary form 2" to 6".
Choose the proper lead and installthe split ring (key chain thingy) onto the flight line. Be careful not to snag the line when installing the lead.
Lead choice will vary for medium size birds. Because all species have a wide weight range, it ispossible to fall into both lead categories. New flyers may not have the strength to carry the heavier lead untilthey develop a little stamina Always use the heavier lead when possible.
Use LIGHT LEAD for small birds up to 300 grams.
Guideline: All Parakeets. Indian ring necks, Cockatiels,Conures, Quaker, Senegal, Doves, Rainbow Lories,Rosellas, Sm. macaws, white cap pionus.
Use HEAVY LEAD for medium and large birds over 300 grams.
Guideline: Amazons, Large lories, Larger Pionus, Eclectus, Med.and Lg. Macaws, Cockatoos, Tlmneh grey, Congo grey, Eclectus,Patagonian conure.
Holding the end of the stretched out lead, walk the perimeterof the area to ensure that it is free of all obstacles that may attractyour bird or snag the line. The Aviator Harness leash will extendan additional 8 feet from the end of the Flight Line lead.
Carefully attach the Flight Line lead to the wrist strap of the harness.
You are ready to start flying. Start out slow and with caution. Wild parrots fly as far as25 miles a day. Captive parrots rarely exceed 100 feet. New flyers will take a few weeksto build strength.
CHECK LINE, LEADS AND CONNECTIONS BEFORE EACH USE.
The AVIATOR FLIGHT LINE is very safe when used as designed. No parrot should be left alone while tethered to the Flight Line. Parrots are active and curious and could become tangled or escape.
