The Blue Coua or Blue Madagascar Coucal (Coua caerulea) is a cuckoo in the Cuculidae family that is endemic to Madagascar, where it is known as "fandrasa." In France, this beautiful coua is known as " Coua bleu;" the German translation is: "Blau-Seidenkuckuck" and the Spanish refer to it as "Cúa Azul.:
The Blue Coua inhabits most of north-western and eastern Madagascar - favoring the subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical mangrove forests, and subtropical or tropical moist montanes.
Although at this point in time, they are not considered globally threatened, they are subject to trapping and hunting, which puts them at considerable risk of extinction in the not-too-distant future..
Description:
The Blue Coua averages 18.9–19.7 inches or 48–50 cm in length; weighs around 8.2 oz or 235 g.. The plumage is dark blue above and below. They have bare blue skin around eye and a black bill.

Diet:
The diet consists mainly of various insects, small reptiles, and fruits.
Breeding / Nesting:
The female usually only lays one eggs in a nest made from twigs. The nests are usually well hidden on trees or bushes.
