The Collared Forest Falcon (Micrastur semitorquatus) is found in Central and South America, specifically the following countries: Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, French Guiana, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, the United States and Venezuela.
It inhabits subtropical or tropical dry and moist lowland forests.
