The horned owls are the genus (Bubo) of 17 species of typical owls which are found in many parts of the world. Horned owls are among the largest owls.
The species are:

- Spot-bellied Eagle Owl (Bubo nipalensis)
- Barred Eagle Owl (Bubo sumatranus)
- Shelley's Eagle Owl (Bubo shelleyi)
- Verreaux's Eagle Owl (Bubo lacteus)
- Dusky Eagle Owl (Bubo coromandus)
- Akun Eagle Owl (Bubo leucostictus)
- Philippine Eagle Owl (Bubo philippensis) : The Philippine Eagle Owl is an endangered and rare bird species belonging to the Strigidae family. A Philippines endemic, it lives near lakes in lowland jungles in the Philippines islands of Catanduanes, Samar, Mindanao, Luzon and Leyte. Its length is about 41cm and it has a wingspan of about 120cm.
DNA studies suggest that four fishing owls previously in the genus Ketupa, and the Snowy Owl, genus Nyctea are specialised horned owls and should be moved to Bubo.
