Description:
The Niam-niam Parrot (Poicephalus crassus) is a parrot endemic to Central Africa (Cameroon to SW Sudan). It is a mostly green parrot with a brown head and a red iris. It lives in woodlands and is not known in captivity.
General plumage green; head and nape greyish-brown, washed olive-yellow; ear-coverts silver-grey; throat and breast olive-brown; back feathers brownish with broad green edging; under wing-coverts green; outer webs of flight feathers bluish-green; tail olive-brown with green tips; periophthalmic ring black; upper beak is light greyish-blue with black tips; lower beak is yellowish-horn colour; iris reddish-brown; feet dark grey. Immatures with greyish-brown head washed olive-yellow; breast and abdomen paler green; upper beak with grey tips ... Length: 25 cm (10 ins)
