Holds 10 hens eggs (or equivalent) Please note: The optional egg inserts / trays will turn this incubator into a semi-automatic version, as it would allow you to turn all the eggs all once, rather than turning each one manually. Small Egg Insert The Small Egg Tray is an optional accessory for the Mini Advance Incubator, allowing users to incubate 12 small eggs - such as quails, finches, lovebirds, up to the size of pheasant eggs - instead of 7 hen-sized eggs. The Small Egg Insert also has useful application in the Mini Eco incubators. Even though the Mini Eco does not have a motor to turn the eggs automatically, this tray would enable users to turn all the eggs at once, rather than having to turn each one by hand individually. This will expedite the process as well as reducing the risk of breaking or contaminating eggs when handling them. However, this tray does limit the number of eggs that can be incubated at one time to 12 small eggs.

The general rule is the cheaper the incubator, the lower the hatch rate.

Temperature: The temperature in cheap units is less controlled and often requires adjustments by the caretaker, which in some instances is as basic as lifting the lid allowing the heat to escape or turning up the heat should the temperature in the incubator go too low. If hatchability is important, I would recommend scrolling down and paying a few dollars more. However, if you don't mind losing chicks and just want your kids to experience the "miracle of life" - then the inexpensive incubators will serve this purpose just fine; as long as you understand that a greater number of eggs will simply not hatch and that you will have to attend to the unit much more to ensure that any will hatch at all.

Styrofoam incubators are impossible to disinfect - another factor when considering incubators and pieces break off easily. They have limited usability. If you are looking for multiple uses, preference should be given to those made of plastics, glass or metal. Check out this affordable, yet reliable, incubator.

For valuable and endangered eggs the intermediate or the professional incubators are recommended.
