The Vieillot's Black Weaver (Ploceus nigerrimus) is endemic to Africa. Specifically, they are found in Angola, Benin, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, and Uganda.
They favor subtropical or tropical dry forest areas.
